the blog

behind the name

When I wanted to start a blog in January 2017, I was having a really hard time coming up with a name. My family and I held a brainstorming session around the kitchen table.

Let’s just say some really weird things were thought of and most of them were rejected.

Hedgehogs, anyone?

*leaves that remark completely unexplained*

And then I remembered (or somebody remembered…) that years ago, when I was selling little baby hats at a fundraiser, my mom made me labels for my products. The labels said Impossible Creations, with Philippians 4:13 on the bottom.

I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.

I have this little problem of saying I can’t do something, that it’s impossible… and then I go and do it. I said “I can’t” to piano, riding my bike, crocheting, and… oh, yeah, reading. Among many others.

Anyhow, I decided to call my blog Simple Impossibilities. Simple, for the fact that I love simple, sweet, old-fashioned things, and Impossibilities because I am. Impossible. Get it?

‘crickets chirping’

Okay, I’ll be serious this time. Even though I might say something is impossible, through God all things are possible.

Thus, Simple Impossibilities.

It has a nice sound to it, I think.

what I do here

I tend to ramble, a lot, so please excuse that. I talk about whatever’s on my mind, really, and that could be pretty much anything under the sun. A few things do keep popping up, though, perhaps because I’m obsessed with them…

I love books (a lot) and am likely to flail about my recent favorites. In fact, I have more favorites than even I can count, so you’ll probably be hearing about some of them.

Writing is one of my passions and I maaay even occasionally give you some snippets or flash fiction things. (I’m so eloquent.) That will probably be quite rare, though, since I’m overprotective of my babies and don’t like sharing them with anyone ever. (This is not an exaggeration. Ask my mother.) But I’m far more likely to post things I’m learning or writing updates, as they’re easier and less emotionally traumatizing.

You can find me here on Saturday afternoons and anywhere in between. <3
