Writing

camp nano update // week two

I’m back, with another Nano update! Sorry this was a day late, but the weekend was busy. This week was fairly good for writing, and I upped my goal (again) to 16,000 words.

My current word count is 6,786 words and according to the Nanowrimo website I’m right on track to finish by the end of July. Here’s my daily word counts.

Saturday, July 8: 571 words.

Sunday, July 9: 519 words.

Monday, July 10: 838 words!!! The most words I’ve written in one day so far! ๐Ÿ˜€

Tuesday, July 11: 540 words.ย Went a bit over my word count goal, but it was harderย to write because it was Cow Day at Chik-Fil-A. If you don’t know what this is, it’s where you dress up like a cow and get free food – hurrah! We went for breakfast and dinner, so I did a lot of writing in the car.

Wednesday, July 12: 501 words. Barely made my word count. Went to our grandmother’s house in the morning and had a movie night with our youth group in the evening.

Thursday, July 13: 286 words. Ugh. My lowest day, partially because I was procrastinating and partially because we had a library program and then spent the evening with friends playing whiffle ball.ย

Friday, July 14: 718 words. Baaarely.

Although most of the week writing was easy, these past few days I’ve been in a bit of a slump. I hit the midpoint and… it’s not pretty, let me tell you. Seriously. Nobody is seeing this first draft. *headdesk*ย I just can’t figure out how to get from one point to another!

And it’s way past bedtime and I still haven’t finished my daily word count. *runs off frantically*

I decided not to do a tag with this post, but hopefully there will be lots of tags and fun things for the rest of July! I may try to post twice a week, but don’t hold me to it.

I’ve been making small changes on the blog. What do you think of them? I’ve also been thinking about purchasing a theme. Do any of you WordPress users have any advice?

How is Nano going, for those of you who are doing it? And don’t you dare say “It’s going.” ๐Ÿ˜€

So apparently I’ve only ever looked at your blog on my phone; it’s so nice and crisp and beautiful! Especially on the desktop. For themes, I like Kotryna Bass Design. I’ve been debating whether to keep the one loaded with pictures (from her designs) or switch to one that actually looks a lot like yours (also hers). They’re fairly pricey but she offers free installation services and I love the look of them!

Good job on Camp so far! We’re half way there…

Aww, thank you! I like most of the things about my theme, but there are a few things I’d like to be a bit different. (Not even kidding, I am SO picky.)

Your blog is really pretty too! โค

      Thanks. We must keep… On… Going… ?

Hooray, someone else who isn’t doing 50k or 85k or 120k! (the huge numbers are usually November, but anyway)
I’m in a mid-month slump too – I have various things set up (I’d say plot points, but that might indicate that I had a plot) but only a few vague ideas for what the ending could be, so I’m having trouble writing towards the ending! Never mind. WE WILL CONQUER THESE DRAFTS (well I’m hoping I will, because I really want to get a first ever first draft out of this story…)
[And I’ve never heard of anything like ‘Cow Day’ – probably because Australia doesn’t have Chik-Fil-A. What’s it like seeing everyone dressed up as cows to get their meal??]

Yikes, just considering how hard it’s been for me to get 500ish words a day, 50k sounds like pure, terrifying torture. Maybe I’ll do it one day, though.

YES WE WILL CONQUER. (I’m looking for a battle-warrior emoticon but there is none.)

It’s pretty cool, actually – some people get super creative. We use trash bags with black spots taped on – hey! It’s free food! And you’ve never been to Chik-Fil-A? That is so sad! Maybe if you’re ever in the States you could go. ? The food is delicious and service is great.

*is finally commenting* Great job so far! I can’t wait to read your story at some point! ๐Ÿ™‚ if you’ll let me ;).

I like the changes to the blog so far. Can’t wait to see what else you end up going to it. ๐Ÿ™‚
