HELLO LOVELY PEOPLE. I hope you’re enjoying this beautiful Sunday. (We’ve been busy this weekend, which is why this post is late! Way late. Sorry.) I am so excited about getting back to blogging, though, that I just couldn’t force myself to take the day off! Also, I wrote a few posts during my (lengthy) hiatus, and this is one of them.
So, quite some time ago, I was tagged by the lovely Angela @ The Peculiar Messenger for the Back to School Tag. Obviously I’ve been on break, and haven’t been doing any new posts, but this is horribly overdue. (Yeah… it’s only three months after school started, ZANE…) So… here are the rules! (which I am obviously breaking because haha when do I EVER follow tag rules?)
- Thank the person who tagged you. (Thanks, Angela!)
- Answer the questions. (Done.)
- Post new questions. Or a blank copy of the old questions, if you’re too lazy to make your own (or if you just love my questions).
- Tag as many (or as few) people as you want. (Try to make sure they’re still doing school!)
- Wear something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue. (Sorry… no.)
LET US PROCEED TO THE QUESTIONS.
What grade are you in, and how old are you?
I’m in tenth grade this year (WHAAAT I’M IN MY SECOND YEAR OF HIGH SCHOOL), and I’m fifteen years old. Sixteen in April.
Also, people keep asking if I’m a sophomore. I guess the answer is yes? Because apparently when you’re in tenth you’re a sophomore?? Y’all, I’m homeschooled. WHEN I WAS YOUNGER I DIDN’T EVEN KNOW MY OWN GRADE*. xP
*Okay… fine… sometimes it still requires a little thought.
Are you homeschooled, private schooled, or publc schooled? Do you enjoy your type of schooling?
Homeschooled. I do indeed enjoy it very much – it gives me so much freedom to do other things, like blogging. (:
What is your favorite subject?
History and literature, probably? Our curriculum has a lot of reading, and it’s mostly history, so of course history is one of my favorites. Because I LOVE reading.* Also Lit. is fun for the most part, although almost ALL of the “Boy’s Interest” books have been WAY better than the “Girl’s Interest” books?? *is not amused*
*Like that wasn’t obvious… because this is a book/writing blog hello Zane
What is your least favorite subject?
Math and science. Math is better this year than last, because last year was Algebra 1… help. no.
(My mom said that I should clarify, I don’t actually dislike SCIENCE – I just don’t like this year’s science. I actually really love botany and natural sciences and astronomy and even some chemistry, but this year is integrated physics and chemistry and it’s like the writers deliberately tried to make it as dull and confusing as possible. #notafan)
One thing you learned in school when you were younger that is still in your head?
Skip-counting (multiplication). We learned these songs years ago and I still can sing most of them. I actually still use them to do quick multiplication and can do it without singing, on my fingers, in seconds. IT’S SO USEFUL. And actually, I’ve basically memorized them by now. Thank you, Classical Conversations! xD
Do you study hard or wing it, most often?
I get the work done. I usually work pretty hard, but… it depends.
Your way to study is…?
Do the thing. And I try to get it done before lunch, because if it isn’t done it stresses me out. But it’s been dragging out longer lately, and hence I have been more stressed out… Are we seeing a problem here?
YES I AM SUCH A HELPFUL PERSON. Don’t follow my example, kids. xD
What is one subject you want to work really hard on this year, to better yourself?
Maybe speech/apologetics or piano? WHO EVEN SAID I WANTED TO BETTER MYSELF WHO IS ASKING THESE QUESTIONS
Just kidding… I’m really working on my outside “educational” things, like graphic design, blogging, writing, etc. because I think stuff like that will be helpful in the future.
Any extracurricular activities this year? What are they?
Speech/debate/apologetics, piano, blogging, writing, and dancing (English Country, historic, etc.). And yes, I’m totally counting those last three. You’re welcome, my dears.
What is one thing you look forward to this particular year of school? What does this year mean for you?
We’ve already started… but for me, this year means change.
What is one thing that school introduced you to, that made you look farther into, that you still really enjoy? (for me, this would be musicals and ballets and stuff. swan lake and the nutcracker are amazing, ok!?)
*is trying to think back to the roots of all my interests*
*can’t remember anything because of horrible memory*
It’s probably intensified my love of history and reading. I don’t know, really. A really great thing about school is that:
- I really enjoy a lot of it, with the reading and the history and all that… ahhhh.
- It’s given me more time to pursue my interests.
If you could take a dream field trip, where would you go and what would you do?
Hmm… maybe somewhere where there’s historical reenactment* or to the location of one of my favorite Youtube dance channels to attend one of their dances. (linked here and here.) *is screaming internally just thinking about it*
*I ACTUALLY JUST ATTENDED A HISTORIC DANCE. Ack!
But really… we take a lot of fun field trips, and I don’t really know if there’s somewhere I’m just dying to go… I like the field trips we take.
Are you excited for school? If so, why? If not, why?
Well, I wasn’t when we first started, but now it’s not too bad. (: The thing was, I liked my summer routine and all my free time and wasn’t really terribly excited about adding something else… I’m still figuring out time management, but it’s getting better.
(Obviously better. xP But this post is still late. #Awesome #Time #Management)
Bonus, useless question: can you recite the alphabet backwards out loud? (honestly, who can?)
Haha… no. Does anyone actually do that?? I can’t even do it mentally…
SO. Talk to me! What kind of school do you do, and do you like it? Have you ever even heard of English Country dancing? Can you recite the alphabet backwards??* How was your weekend?
*BECAUSE I AM NOW CURIOUS AND MUST KNOW

I can recite the alphabet backwards … 😛 Well, at least most of it, haha.
Great post! 🙂

Wow, I’m surprised! O.o
Thank you!
Lisa
Lol Zane I LOVE ALL YOUR ANSWERS XD I just did this tag last month myself so …
And I can’t recite the alphabet backwards for the life of me. Although maybe I could with minute long breaks between every letter but that is not reciting.
SOMEDAY WHEN WE MEET YOU CAN TEACH ME ENGLISH COUNTRY DANCING!!
Weekend was good but don’t ask how much I screamed over making 26 Christmas cards (we need to have 40 done before the 10th).

OKAY I DON’T FEEL SO ALONE NOW! (Both in my lateness and not-reciting-the-alphabet-backwards-ness XD)
And you should learn English Country dancing!! IT WOULD BE SO FUN TO MEET UP SOMEDAY.
Oh goodness Christmas preparation. Don’t ask me how much I’m still screaming over all the gifts I need to buy/make!!! #help
Kate
Such a fun tag! And I most definitely can’t do the alphabet backward…

I’m a homeschooler too! That is… I did homeschool up until two years ago, when I finished. But I haven’t stopped calling myself a homeschooler, and I don’t know if I ever will. ;P
English Country and historic dances sound amazing! I’d love to try that. (What are the dances in Pride and Prejudice classified as? just wondering? 😉
Zane Jones
That’s neat! Yeah, I don’t know if I’ll ever stop calling myself as a homeschooler xD
YESSS IT’S SO FUN. I think technically the dances in Jane Austen’s time (early 1800s) were Regency dances, but they would fall under the umbrella of historic dance. Although I don’t know if the ones they do in the movies are accurate, we’ve done some of them and they are so fun! The ones I can think of right now are Ship’s Cook and the Last Dance (both from Emma), and Mr. Beveridge’s Maggot, from Pride and Prejudice. The ones from Emma you can find on one of the dance channels I linked (Stately Steps) and here is the version of Mr. Beveridge’s Maggot we learned, quite a while back. But if you look, there are some really fun versions where the people dancing are all super dressed up and it’s just fun to watch.
Oh well that got long. Dancing is obviously one of my loves xD Thanks for commenting!
Emma
wow… just now commenting…. I can write/type the alphabet backwards! does that count?
*looks confused* what is English Country dance? never heard of it *coughs* just kidding of course! I LOVE ECD!!!!
Awesome tag!
-Emma
Zane Jones
I can probably WRITE it backwards… xP
EMMA????? WHAT HAVE YOU DONE WITH MY FRIEND????
Thanks! 🙂
